Popkomm IMEA Looks For Innovative Companies

BERLIN (Hypebot) –
EU entertainment and music gathering Popkomm is seeking submissions for its 6th annual Popkomm-IMEA competition for innovative ideas in the music and entertainment industries. Companies still have until June 20th to submit. The Popkomm-IMEA is organized in collaboration with uk digital music strategy and research firm Music Ally.

2009 marks the first time that the general public can also play their part in choosing the winner. The successful applicants will be chosen by an expert panel of three judges (who will also offer free coaching to their personal choices). The finalists then present their ideas online for the public to vote on the winner.

The ultimate winner will be chosen from a combination of the public vote and a vote on the day of the event itself on Thursday September 17th. The winner of the Popkomm-IMEA will receive prize money and a free stand at Popkomm 2010.

Last year Kyte was the winner. This US company provides a mobile online platform which anyone – consumers, artists and media companies – can use to create and distribute digital content, either live or on-demand via the web, social networks or mobile phones. In earlier years the Popkomm-IMEA went to Trivid GmbH from Germany for its development of a clip generator (2007), the US company Royalty Share for its royalty management software (2006), the US company kSolo.com for the world’s first internet-based karaoke program (2005), and to the UK online music distributor Playlouder MSP (2004).
