Post Hardcore Band Viridian Reports Harrowing Carjacking Incident

SAN ANTONIO, TX (CelebrityAccess) — Louisiana-based post-hardcore band Viridian had an unwelcome bit of excitement following their show at the Amp Room in San Antonio on Saturday after they were allegedly carjacked.

According to NBC affiliate News 4, band members Curtis Elliot and Derek Meaux were sitting in their van after loadout, waiting for the rest of the group when they were approached by an armed man.

“Then a guy comes up opens my door,” Elliot told News 4.

“And I thought it was a band mate at first,” added Meaux. “Then all of the sudden he pulls out a gun.”

According to Elliot and Meux, the gunman commandeered the vehicle and started driving it away with the two men still inside.

“I'm in the middle and our other guitarist is in the passenger seat,” Elliot told News 4. “The whole time we're in the car he has the gun either on my stomach, on my chest, or my head."

Unwilling to take the rest of the trip, Elliot took an opportunity to try to seize the gun from the assailant, leading the van to crash as the three men wrestled over the weapon.

“I don't remember why or what happened but I just went and grabbed it got both hands on it and turned it on him," Elliot told News 4.

Police are still looking for the alleged suspect, who was described as a Hispanic male, possibly in his thirties with short hair and wearing a blue polo and jeans. The van was totaled and the trailer received minor damage, News 4 said. – Staff Writers
