Summer Camp Stays With Three Sisters

CHILLICOTHE, IL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Organizers of the Summer Camp Music Festival have announced that the event will be returning to the Three Sisters Park after an enormous show of support from the City of Chillicothe, IL, and will stay in the location for at least the next five years.

Soon after Three Sisters Park announced that it would no long host the festival earlier this year, a grassroots efforts throughout Central Illinois amongst citizens and business owners sent move than 60 letters to the park and the city asking them to reconsider their decision. They also received a petition in support of the Summer Camp Music Festival signed by over 600 residents of Chillicothe, whose population is under 6000 total.

“We were so excited to see how the city of Chillicothe rallied around the festival and spoke up to keep us at Three Sisters Park,” said promoter Jay Goldberg. “Where else have you heard of a community actually rallying to ‘Save’ a music festival? We have all worked so hard to develop the festival at this park, and it would have been a shame to be forced to take it somewhere else.”

The Summer Camp Music Festival started in 2001, and drew more than 9,000 fans to see more than 45 bands over three days in its most recent incarnation. Almost doubling the population of Chillicothe for the weekend, the concert greatly impacts the local business economy greatly. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
