TACOMA, WA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After failing to pass a bond measure to finance the multi-million dollar improvements that had been planned for the Tacoma Dome, city planners have put forward an alternate proposal that calls for short term improvements geared towards generating more revenue from intimate-setting concerts and sports events.
The proposal calls for utilizing money from the city's general fund that would allow the dome to be reconfigured as a theater to provide a setting for small, comfortable concerts, reducing the capacity of the facility from 23,000 to 8,000 seats. "The intent of this strategy is to keep the Tacoma Dome self-sufficient. If we do nothing, we will continue to drain our reserves, become a less viable option for promoters, agents, and artists, and become a burden to the general fund." Director of public facilities Mike Combs told the Tacoma Daily – CelebrityAccess staff writers
