X Factor Announces Tour

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The X Factor Live tour is to return to UK arenas next year with 18 shows announced for February, March and April 2011.

The 2010 search for the UK’s biggest undiscovered pop talent has begun with TV reality show X Factor hitting the small screen last weekend.

With the competition running until Christmas, another live arena tour has been planned for the New Year, giving fans the opportunity to watch the 2010 finalists, as well as other memorable contestants, perform live.

As in previous years of the competition, contestants are judged on appearance, personality, stage presence and dance routines by pop music mogul Simon Cowell and his judging panel minions.

Whittling down the thousands of poster hopefuls week-by-week, via a torrent of abuse in the process, contestants eventually face a public vote on their live studio performances to determine whether or not the wannabes are deemed worthy of a £1 (apx. $1.5) million record deal as well as a massive amount of publicity from the press.

In recent years the X Factor winners could almost guarantee a UK Christmas Number One song; however, as we saw last year, times have changed after a huge online campaign was launched to stop Simon Cowell’s X Factor winner from dominating the festive countdown.

With the campaign organizers choosing Rage Against The Machine’s rap-metal anthem ‘Killing In The Name’ to compete against the X Factor’s track, the support gathered by the campaign propelled Rage’s classic track to the Christmas Number One, leaving last year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry in the unexpected Number Two spot.
