Fantastic Beasts: Crimes Of Grindelwald Casts A Spell At The Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Warner Bros. Fantastic Beasts: Crimes Of Grindelwald whipped up some magic in its debut at the box office, raking in more than $62.2 million in North American and $253.2 million in revenue worldwide, according to estimates compiled by comScore.

Directed by David Yates and written by Harry Potter author  J. K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts is the tenth film set in the Harry Potter universe and a sequel to 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. 

Internationally, 20th Century Fox Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody held on to second place earning 61m worldwide and fending off a challenge from Sony’s Venom, which continued to perform strongly in Chinese theaters.

In North American theaters Universal’s animated holiday film Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch took the #2 spot, adding $38m over the weekend and bringing its cumulative take up to $151.7m worldwide.
