Benefit Concert Held Atop Empire State Building

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — April 26, 2007 — It started with a few small steps … 1,576 to be exact. That was the number of steps needed to perform a morning ascent up the Empire State Building, led by two-time cancer survivor Mike Peters. The Empire State Building event was a successful prelude to the ultimate high: "Everest Rocks" — The Love Hope Strength Foundation's October Fundraising Trek & Rock Music Concert At The Base Camp Of Mt. Everest.

As cofounder Mike Peters shared, "Since the launch of the LoveHopeStrength.com cancer foundation at 'The Gathering' (a series of concerts by Welsh band 'The Alarm in January 2007), we have received hundreds of emails from cancer patients and cancer survivors saying this exactly what cancer patients and their families needed: a cancer foundation that advances the cause through rock music."

Leukemia survivors Mike Peters (of Welsh Rock band The Alarm) and entertainment insurance executive James Chippendale recently founded the Love Hope Strength Cancer Foundation to reveal the ongoing success of cancer survivors, build a support network for cancer patients worldwide, fight for greater research funding and develop innovative music related outreach and awareness programs.

As reported recently in Billboard Magazine, the foundation is planning an October acoustic concert with an all-star rock music line-up at the base camp of Mt. Everest. The Everest event is both a fundraiser and awareness platform for the Love Hope Strength Foundation. The foundation's entire series of events will be the subject of two documentaries by both the BBC and acclaimed MTV producer Alex Coletti for future television specials.

At the Empire State Building event, the acoustic set was overseen by famed producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Morrissey, Thin Lizzy and many more). The song seen in the YouTube video, "Love Hope Strength", is now available at itunes.com for worldwide download to support the foundation's efforts.

LoveHopeStrength.com's network of top athletes, artists, entertainers and musicians will unite to provide memorable outreach and awareness programs via concerts, music and rock music merchandise worldwide. 2007 concerts include events in LA, NYC, Wales, Dallas and New Jersey with the pinnacle event, "Everest Rocks," a fourteen-day trek and acoustic concert at the base camp of Mt Everest, with a grand finale rock concert in Katmandu.
