Chinese Promoters Swindled Over Jackie Cheung Tour

BEIJING (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A woman claiming to represent Fun Entertainment Ltd, the management company that reps Cantonese pop star Jacky Cheung has been accused of defrauding 16 Chinese promoters out of more than $3.4 million in deposits for dates on Cheungs' latest Chinese tour.

According to Chinese media sources, the promoters claim that they were approached by a woman named Shen Shi Yi, who identified herself as the owner of the Beijing branch of Fun Entertainment. Shen allegedly told the promoters that she was representing Cheung's upcoming tour and collected deposits on dates. Instead of securing concerts however, the money allegedly went into Shin's pocket.

Fun Entertainment has disavowed any connection with Shen Shi Yi, releasing a statement which read in part: "[Fun Entertainment] had not authorised any individual or organisation to collect down payments for Jackie Cheung's upcoming concert tour".

The swindled promoters however, are hoping for more than a disavowal and believe that Fun Entertainment has an obligation to offer a solution to the problem.

"We are very angry. We obviously paid them the money and now they claim we have not," one of the promoters told Channel News Asia.

Cheung's manager and head of Fun Entertainment, Florence Chan has issues a statement saying that she has sent representatives to China to investigate the matter and that Fun Entertainment would resolve any financial obligations her company had assumed. She also noted that Shen Shi Yi's company was entirely unrelated to Fun Entertainment.

"Shen Shi Yi acted alone. The companies Beijing Tian Xing [the alleged Beijing branch of Fun Entertainment Ltd] and Hong Kong Tian Xing [Fun Entertainment] were registered separately and completely unrelated. It is untrue that the former is a branch of the latter," said Chan. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
