Former 3 Doors Down Guitarist Matt Roberts Dead At 38

MILWAUKEE (VIP-NEWS) — Former 3 Doors Down guitarist Matt Roberts has died aged 38, it has been reported.

The musician is believed to have died of an overdose, though this has not been officially confirmed.

Speaking to American website TMZ, Roberts`s father, Darrell, explained that his son`s death could have been caused by prescription pills but that he believed the possible overdose was accidental.

The pair were staying in adjoining rooms at a hotel in Milwaukee, where Roberts had been rehearsing ahead of a charity concert this weekend. Darrell was informed of his son`s death at 9am on Saturday morning (August 20).

Roberts left 3 Doors Down in 2012 due to health-related problems, thought to include issues with blood circulation. At the time of his departure from the band, Roberts said: "3 Doors Down will always have a special place in my heart and it saddens me to take this time off, but my health has to be my first priority."

The Mississippi band, best known for songs such as Kryptonite and Duck And Run, formed in 1996 and have sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Seventeen Days (2005) and 3 Doors Down (2008) both debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
