MANCHESTER, UK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Nine years ago was the last time that G-Mex (Greater Manchester Exhibit Centre) hosted a concert. Once an integral part of the Manchester music scene, the venue had shifted it's focus to conventions and conferences, but that's prepared to change as Morrissey plans the final two dates for his tour there on December 22 & 23.
It's not the first time he's been there. The Smiths were one of the first bands to play there and now Morrissey will put on the last concert before the historic venue will change it's name. Originally built as a rail terminus in, built between 1875-1880, the venue had stopped hosting shows because of the growing popularity of nearby Men Arena. In 2005, the City Council purchased G-Mex and in September, they announced that the name would change to the Manchester Central Convention Complex and that concerts would be held there again. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
