Live Nation Cancels Sasquatch Festival Expansion

YAKIMA, WA (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation has pulled back from plans to expand their Sasquatch! Music Festival into a second weekend after the extension of the event failed to generate support from fans.

The promoter had announced the expansion, which would take place on the Fourth of July weekend after the festival's traditional Memorial Day weekend and feature a separate lineup. Artists announced for the second weekend's lineup included Neutral Milk Hotel, New Order, Soundgarden, Frank Ocean and Kraftwerk among others.

"The Sasquatch! community has spoken," Live Nation Seattle President Jeff Trisler said in a press statement. "They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only."

Refunds for tickets purchased to the second weekend will be handled through Ticketmaster and some of the artists are making plans for alternate shows in the area on the weekend of the 4th of July. – Staff Writers
