Musicland Holding Corp., the nation's leading specialty retailer of music, movies and entertainment-related products, named Michael J. Madden as president reporting to Musicland's recently appointed CEO Eric Weisman. "As the most recent addition to our senior management team, Mike will be responsible for the operations of the company's 1,100 stores in the divisions of Sam Goody, Suncoast and Media Play," Weisman said. "His extensive retail experience, strong leadership style and excellent industry reputation will support our strategic objectives at the store level."
Madden has been acting in a consultant role for Musicland for the past two months. His retail experience spans more than 30 years including: 20 years with American Stores Corp; 13 years with Toys R Us where he served as president from 1996 to 1999; and from 1999 to 2001, he served as president and coo of Trans World Entertainment. Since 2001 he has operated his own consulting, sales and marketing business.
