New Amphitheater Planned For St. Cloud

WAITE PARK, Minn. (CelebrityAccess) — Developers have revealed plans for a new 5,000-seat amphitheater to be built in Waite Park, a suburb of St. Cloud.

According to the St. Cloud Times, the initial plans were presented to Waite Park City Council on Thursday. The plans would put the proposed amphitheater near Minnesota Highway 23, in a park donated to the city by Martin Marietta Aggregates.

Architecture firm Oertel estimates the amphitheater will cost around $6 million. Funding for the project will come from sales tax revenue, and potentially sponsorship agreements, or grants, the Times reported.

If built, the amphitheater would be the largest concert venue in the market. Other venues in the market include the 4,000-capacity River's Edge Convention Center, and the Paramount Theatre, which has a capacity of 800. – Staff Writers
