(CelebrityAccess News Service) – Early-70s psychedelic rockers Vanilla Fudge have re-grouped and begin a 14-city European tour July 12 in Hanover, Germany, in support of their new CD, The Return.
"While it's been difficult on certain levels… the passion and support the industry has had for The Fudge has remained and has enabled us to continue our musical journey," says leader and drummer Carmine Appice. "People like Paul Shaffer from the 'David Letterman Show' and Max Weinberg from 'Conan' have consistently supported us and spread the word. We were always a live band… that is where we show our chops.""
The group scored its biggest hit in the mid-70's with the re-working of The Supremes "You Keep Me Hangin' On"."
On their new CD, the Fudge re-work another familiar song, *N Sync's "Tearin' Up My Heart."
"My kids always played that song around me and I was struck by not only how good it was but how it immediately lent itself to a Fudge-re-working. There's no question that rock is making a serious return to the playlists of radio stations… and this track fits so perfectly in," says Appice.
