Sony BMG Germany Sets Marketing Team

The marketing team for the newly established International Sony BMG Germany department, headquartered in Berlin, are Barbara Steinhagen, Stefan Goebel and Matthias Lumm. International promotions will be led by Gaby Bartolomeo and the "Heritage & Jazz Artists" area will be the responsibility of Hanns Peter Bushoff.

"I am starting off with a creative, competent and highly experienced team in Berlin, where all our international artists will be in the best hands," says Willy Ehmann, managing director International at SONY BMG Germany. "The merger of two internationally so successful companies as Sony Music and BMG leaves us no other choice than striving for market leadership and then expanding it. This is the goal we are aiming for, and I am looking forward to implementing this with my new team. I wish everyone much happiness and success in this."

The Marketing Director Steinhagen and her team will be responsible for all artists (with the exception of rock artists) on Columbia, RCA/Arista, Zomba Label Group, SONY BMG Nashville, SONY BMG Europe and other territories such as Australia and Canada. Alexandra Falken and Isabel Stibor will be responsible for marketing within her team.

The Marketing Director Goebel and his team will be responsible for Epic, J Records and SONY BMG UK (excl. rock/alternative), managing such artists as Anastacia, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Dido and Maroon 5. Hilke Dethleff and Stephen George will support his efforts.


Marketing Director Lumm will be responsible for the rock/alternative area and all international rock/alternative artists. Mathias Blühdorn and Daniel Kamps will be members of his team.

Bartolomeo, the director of promotion international, will manage all promotion activities of the international repertoires. The promotional team handles the entire international repertoire of SONY BMG within the previous and proven structure.

Hanns Peter Bushoff, in his new position as senior product manager, will be responsible for the "Heritage" and "jazz" domains. In this function, he will be responsible for the medium- and long-term buildup of artists who are not marketed through the usual channels. Bushoff will continue to be the contact person for the products of the Sanctuary company. Furthermore, he will provide support for the product areas von Steinhagen and Goebel.

Steinhagen joined the music industry in 1991 at what was then PolyGram GmbH. She joined Mercury Records as product manager in 1996 after two years at Metronome Musik GmbH. As of 1999 she was active for the same subsidiary of Universal Music, as senior product manager and later on as head of international marketing. Steinhagen joined Columbia Records in Berlin in January 2001 as the international marketing director. As director mainstream for Sony Music International, she had last been active as the responsible manager for the campaigns of Anastacia, Shakira, George Michael, Bruce Springsteen, Destiny's Child and others

Goebel started his career in 1999 as a trainee/executive assistent of the managing director of BMG Ariola in Munich. A year later he joined the international department as a product manager, and in 2001 he became manager of the newly established department "Union Street" (urban product). In 2003, hewas appointed as marketing director International, being responsible for such top stars as P!nk, Usher, Outkast. Avril Lavigne and others. Recently, he has been responsible for the co-management of the entire international department at BMG.

Lumm entered the music industry via the magazine Intro and Glitterhouse Records. As of 1986, he was active in sales for Arcade Music, as the marketing manager for Dos Or Die Recordings. Sony Music made Lumm responsible as international product manager Epic in 1998. Three years later he was appointed as the senior marketing manager. During this time he was responsible for the marketing of Travis, Fatboy Slim, Jamiroquai, Oasis and others. At the end of 2002 he was appointed as the director of the alternative department at Sony Music International. As of March 2003 he was given the additional responsibility for the uban music, including the campaigns of Evanescence, System of a Down, Good Charlotte, Incubus, Xzibit, the Lostprophets and others.

Bartolomeo entered the music business in 1996 as a co-ordinator and a member of the TV promotion team at Polydor and switched to edel records in 1998, where she was appointed as the promotion director. Sony Music recruited her as promotion manager in 2001. Since that time and together with her team, she has contributed to the projects of of Shakira, Evanescence, Ozzy Osbourne, Delta Goodrem, George Michael, Anastacia and others.

Bushoff was first active as a journalist,before joining Ariola in Munich at the start of 1984. There he was responsible for the PR department for 15 years before switching over to marketing in 1999.
