AEG Planning New Rock Festival For Connecticut

PRESTON, CT (CelebrityAccess) — Foxwoods Resort Casino and Los Angeles-based promoter AEG Live have revealed plans to launch a new, one-day rock festival in Connecticut later this year.

According to the New London Day, AEG and the tribe approached Preston's Board of Selectmen about their plan for the Revolution Rock Festival, which would take place on September 17th, with up to 20 artists across two or three stages.

“If successful, the festival producers look forward to the possibility of expanding to multiple days in 2017 and beyond,” a two-page proposal paper about the event said, according to The Day.

It isn't surprising if you've never heard of Preston. The small town, with a population of 4,700, is located between Ledyard and Montville, the home of Connecticut's two casino properties.

Unsurprisingly, some residents and town officials expressed concern about the scope of the proposed event, suggesting that the town's resources and infrastructure were not up to the task of hosting a large festival event.

“We're a small, predominantly residential community. It would be irresponsible to pull our people away from protecting our residents to cover this event,” the town's fire chief Tom Casey said during the Board of Selectmen meeting, according to The Day.

“… I have me and one paid firefighter on duty during the day and maybe 12 to 15 volunteers and EMS personnel,” he added.

In the two-page event brief, event organizers said they would submit a detailed Festival Operations Plan at least 60 days in advance.

AEG Live Senior Vice President Joe Litvag, who the proposal identified as the festival's executive producer, said he could not comment until he meets with Preston officials, The Day said.

"We welcome the opportunity to sit and talk about the opportunity with them," Litvag told the paper. – Staff Writers
