Former Wrestler Ric Flair Stable After Surgery

(CelebrityAccess) — WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is recovering after undergoing surgery on Monday, for an undisclosed but serious medical condition.

Initial reports suggested that the former wrestler had been placed in a medically induced coma ahead of surgery on Sunday after he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday by his family for monitoring.

Late Sunday night, a representative for the wrestler sent out a tweet asking for “prayers” and “positive energy.” She said Flair was dealing with “some tough medical issues.”

While the exact nature of Flair's medical condition was not disclosed, it appears to be related to his colon. In a Facebook post, longtime WWE announcer Gene Okerlund wrote: “I’ve heard nothing on the outcome of Ric Flair's colon surgery this afternoon but the outpouring of prayers and love re-enforce that he definitely is “THE MAN”.”

Flair, whose real name is Richard Morgan Fliehr, was known professionally as 'The Nature Boy Ric Flair' and was noted for his decades of participation with various wrestling organizations including the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, later WWE) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

Flair officially retired from the ring in 2008 but made occasional appearances in the ring afterward and served as a spokesman for the Baltimore-based wrestling promotion Ring of Honor, as well as signing on as a heel for Hulk Hogan's Australian tour in 2009.
