NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson was reportedly arrested on drug and traffic charges in Williamson County on Sunday.
According to The Tennessean, Johnson was placed in custody after he was pulled over in Williamson County for speeding by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Court documents revealed that Johnson, 49, was charged with speeding and possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell the prohibited substance, a felony that carries a possible prison sentence of up to six years if convicted.
“We can confirm that Jamey Johnson was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 17 in Williamson County. The incident is still under investigation,” a rep for the Tennessee Highway Patrol told Nashville’s WTVF.
Johnson rose to fame in the early 2000s as a songwriter for stars like Trace Adkins and Hank Williams Jr. He went on to a successful career as a recording artist, with hits such as “The Dollar” and “In Color.”
He released his most recent album, Midnight Gasoline, on November 8th via Warner Nashville.
