MELBOURNE, Australia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Leonard Cohen has been announced as the winner of ‘Best International Contemporary Concert’ for the inaugural Hanging Rock performance at the 2011 Helpmann Awards at the Sydney Opera House.
Granted by Live Performance Australia, the Helpmann Awards celebrate excellence in the live performance sectors and as a Canadian musician, Cohen is the only international to have received the award twice.
The second Hanging Rock concert will feature Rod Stewart performing a barrage of hits from his catalog spanning four decades on Saturday February 18th with Australia’s Diesel as his special guest.
“Hanging Rock is a truly unique setting for this type of event. This award is a testament to that, and to the vision and expertise of Michael Gudinski and Frontier Touring,” said Mayor Henry McLaughlin.
Frontier Touring CEO Michael Gudinski commented, “After the outstanding success of the now award-winning Leonard Cohen concert there I couldn’t think of a better act to follow than with another true legend who has had success over many decades – the inimitable Rod Stewart and his 15 piece band. This will certainly be another concert that will never be forgotten.”
