LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Rapper Coolio was arrested on Saturday after authorities said they found a loaded, stolen firearm in his carry-on bag.
According to the Los Angeles Times, airport police responded after a security checkpoint reported finding a gun in a carry-on bag. Police detained the 39-year-old man who initially claimed the bag, but soon discovered that the contents of the bag belonged to Coolio.
When police questioned Coolio about the bag, he claimed ownership of the bag, according to a statement police spokeswoman Alicia Hernandez provided to the Times.
Police then arrested both Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey on suspicion of possessing a stolen, loaded firearm.
Hernandez told the Times that Coolio was booked into jail on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Coolio has previously had legal trouble at LAX. In 2009, he was arrested with felony possession and misdeamor battery after screeners discovered cocaine in his luggage. – Staff Writers
