Delaware Considers Easing Liquor Regulations For Festivals

DOVER, Delaware (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Delaware legislators are weighing modifications to the state's liquor laws that would less regulations on alcohol at music festivals.

House Bill 16 would allow event promoters at music festivals, car shows, conventions and auctions to share the proceeds from alcohol sales with the event's host venue.

According to local news reports, the bill was a response to the successful Firefly Music Festival at Dover Downs last year. Regulations prevented the event's promoter Red Frog Events from taking a portion of the alcohol sales at the event.

Bill sponsor Rep. William J. Carson, D-Smyrna told Delaware State News that both Dover Downs and the Liquor Commissioner of Delaware are both on board for the passage of the bill.

Lawmakers hope that the bill will help to lure other festivals to Delaware. "The removal of this prohibition is intended to attract large events from other jurisdictions where such revenue sharing is customary," the text of the bill reads. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
