LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — The 11th annual UK Festival Awards were held in London, with the Libertines taking home the trophy for ‘Best Headline Performance’ and Glastonbury winning 'Best Major Festival.'
Other winners at this year's award show include Creamfields for ‘Best Dance Event’; newcomer The Secret Festival, which won for 'Best New Festival' and Live At Leeds which won the award for 'Best Metropolitan Festival.'
Promoter Rob Da Bank made two trips to the stage, one for his event Bestival, which won an award for Best Family Festival and a second time to accept the 'Outstanding Contribution to Festivals’ award, which was presented by Glastonbury impresario Michael Eavis.
Award winners are primarily voted on by the general public with a subset of awards being decided upon by a panel of industry experts.
Steve Jenner, Festival Awards Director comments: ‘Another outstanding summer has made this year’s voting and judging a hugely exciting but also challenging task. Not that this put off the festival going public, we’ve seen a 25% rise in votes with over 720,000 cast this year."
Hosted by Huey Morgan, the awards were held at The Roundhouse in London on December 1st, as a part of the annual UK Festival Conference. – Staff Writers
