(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) —
Musicnotes.com has sold its 1,000,000th sheet music download, a little over a year after selling its 500,000th download. Download number one million was the song “Faithfully,” written by Jonathan Cain and performed by Journey. The $4.95 download was purchased by Jacob Henley of Pasadena, Texas.
The first paid download at the Musicnotes.com web site occurred on November 3, 1999. This download of “Journey to the Past,” composed by Lynn Ahrens and Steven Flaherty, from the movie 'Anastasia,' marked the first important milestone for the company.
"Hitting one million downloads is obviously a big milestone, but we are still in the early growth phase for downloadable sheet music and guitar tablature," said Musicnotes' CEO Kathleen Marsh.
“I really like Musicnotes,” said Henley, an amateur piano player who has purchased from the Musicnotes.com site numerous times, including the 1,000,000th download. “They have a great selection and the site is very easy to use.”
“Musicnotes will continue to add digital content and enhance our product offerings as we look forward to our next million,” said Bill Aicher, Musicnotes’ director of marketing. “Offering customers new content, exciting technology and an enjoyable shopping experience allows us to continue serving satisfied customers like Jacob, and help others learn why Musicnotes is the best way to get sheet music in today’s digital age.” –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
