NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Prominent music exec Ron Shapiro, the ex-Atlantic Records co-president who shepherded the careers of stars like Jewel, Brandy, Matchbox 20, and P.O.D., has a new gig.
After being let go from Atlantic two months ago in a restructuring, the marketing whiz has resurfaced with his own management and consulting company.
His first big client is AOL Music, which is banking on Shapiro to build buzz for its Web site.
"We're tapping into his expertise in promoting artists," AOL Entertainment senior exec Bill Wilson said.
Shapiro also is managing Julie Roberts, a breakout country music star who debuted in the top 10 on the country charts this week. And he's serving as president of the Artists Den, a New York-based show biz company that puts on private concerts and makes records targeted at over-25 music fans. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
