SAN FRANCISCO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A weekend appearance by the newly re-formed, funk band Sly and the Family Stone didn't quite live up to expectations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The band was scheduled to perform at Summerfest '07 on June Th for their first real debut, apart from a club date in Anaheim, since the band reformed. According to the Chronicle, the band's set only lasted 15 minutes and was described by them as "feeble."
They went on to report that the band didn't seem to have their old cohesion and timing despite having a number of original members, including the driving force behind the reunion, little sister Betta or Vet.
According to the Chronicle, The band started their set an hour late and sly only lingered on stage for 15 minutes, playing two songs "Sing a Simple Song," and "If You Want Me to Stay," before leaving stage halfway through "Higher."
Stone has been reclusive since the band dissolved after a disastrous engagement at Radio City Music Hall in 1975 but has since stepped back into the public spotlight after a recent profile in Vanity Fair magazine.
