BEDFORD, VA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Bedford County Planning Commission voted unanimously last week to recommend rezoning for the proposed 7,000-seat Sweetwater Amphitheater at Eastlake.
The 7-0 vote advances the rezoning of 40 acres from low-density residential to commercial, possibly clearing the way for married developers Darrin Snyder and Holly Sweet to fulfill their vision.
“It’s refreshing and another one of those occasions when everyone’s in favor of a project, Steve Wilkerson, who sits on the board, told the Roanoke Times. “I like that.”
Snyder and Sweet plan to include a permanent stage and under-roof area to seat 2,500, in addition to lawn seating for 4,500. The couple is hoping for an April 2008 opening, and plans to bring about 30 concerts per year between April and October. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
