LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Japanese Velvet Revolver fans will be disappointed to learn that the band won't be making their planned swing through the island nation after visa problems have forced them to scrap their tour.
The band had been planning on 4 dates between November 26 and November 30 in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Yokohama.
Although the band has toured Japan in the past, immigrations officials have apparently taken exception to the somewhat checkered past of some of the band members, which include several arrests. The band is appealing the decision, but the issue is unlikely to be resolved as the process typically takes several months.
"We want to apologize to our fans in Japan that we won’t be able to perform our scheduled concerts," Velvet Revolver said in a group statement. "We don’t understand why the authorities won’t give us visas when they granted them for us in 2005 for what was a successful tour and a great experience. We love Japan and look forward to our return there."
The band will press ahead with the Australian leg of their tour as planned however, with dates there starting on December 4th in Brisbane.
