Wilson "Boozoo" Chavis, 70, a pioneer and populizer of Louisiana Zydeco music, died May 5 at an Austin, Texas, hospital after a heart attack and stroke. He had performed at the Austin Swamp Romp April 28 and was admitted to Breckenridge Hospital early the next day after suffering a mild heart attack.
Chavis was managed by Jack Reich of Untouchable Talent and booked by Brad Madison of Mongrel Music.
