Nine Injured After Woman Drives Car Into Concert Crowd

PARMA HEIGHTS, OH (CelebrityAccess) — Nine people were injured, two of them seriously, after a woman drove a car through the crowd at an outdoor community concert in Ohio on Sunday night.

According to the Associated Press, the 74-year-old woman drove into the small dance area of the concert in the parking lot of Greenbrier Commons in Parma Heights.

The concert, featuring a rat pack tribute band, was staged by the city and the final event scheduled for the summer, with approximately 100 people in attendance, the AP said.

Police spokesman Det. Sgt. Steve Scharschmidt told the AP that the unidentified woman was leaving the concert and confused the gas pedal and brake as she was pulling out of her parking space.

Six victims were transported to local area hospitals, two with serious injuries. Three others, including the driver, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Scharschmidt told the Associated Press that as of press time, charges had not been filed in the incident, but that it would be reviewed. – Staff Writers
