(CelebrityAccess) — Indie tock sister act Tegan and Sara announced plans for an extensive tour of the U.S. and Canada.
The ‘Hey, I’m Just Like You’ tour kicks off on Sept 24 with a performance at the MurMrr Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, with dates through the autumn before the tour wraps on November 1st at the State Theatre in Austin, Texas.
“This tour is going to be like nothing we have ever done. We’ll be solo (can we still call it “solo” if there are two of us?). We’ll be playing acoustic (mostly). We’ll be reading from our memoir High School, and performing songs from the new album Hey, I’m Just Like You. And we’ll be playing a collection of songs from our older records (don’t worry!). We’ve pulled our favorite moments from all the old video footage from our teenage years we discovered last year, and we will be screening clips throughout the evening,” Tegan and Sara said in a statement announcing the tour.
“We have so much in store for you. It’s going to be a super special evening that you don’t want to miss. We’ve been away from you all for nearly two years and can’t wait to see you,” they added.
The tour is in support of their latest record “Hey, I’m Just Like You” as well as their memoir “High School”. The duo announced that through a partnership with independent bookstores, they would provide a copy of High School with the purchase of any ticket to the shows from Sept 24 – Oct 4 (Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland and both shows in Seattle).
The duo also announced that $1 from each ticket sale would go to support the Tegan And Sara Foundation, which advocates for economic justice, health, and representation for LGTBQ women.
