LONDON (CelebrityAccess) – Creative Artists Agency (CAA) has re-signed the Spice Girls for representation in all areas worldwide.
Formed in 1994, the Spice Girls have sold more than 85 million records worldwide, making them the most successful female British pop group in history. Their debut album, Spice, is certified 10x Platinum and is the best-selling pop album by a female group. They are also the only group to have two simultaneous Top 10 albums, Spice and Spiceworld, in the Billboard album charts.
Back in 1997, the Spice Girls became the most merchandised group in music history, earning more than $400 million that year alone. Also released in’97 was their official VHS documentary, ONE HOUR OF GIRL POWER, which sold half a million copies within the first month and became the best-selling pop video ever; their first book, GIRL POWER!, which sold out on the day of its release and has been translated into more than 20 languages; and Spiceworld: The Movie, which still holds the record for the highest-ever weekend debut (on Super Bowl weekend) and grossed more than $151 million at Box Offices worldwide.
In the past decade, the Spice Girls performed at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony and sold out a 45-date arena world tour in 38 seconds. Additionally, the group recently finished a 13-stadium sold-out tour in the UK and Ireland, which grossed more than $78.2 million.
