LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — In an unusual turn of events, Warner Bros.’ smash hit “Joker” has vaulted back to the top of slow weekend at the movie box office, earning $18.9 million in North America, according to estimates compiled by Comscore.
Internationally, Joker added an impressive $47.8M on 14,130 screens in 79 markets, a declined of 38% percent from last weekend. Worldwide, the film has cumed $849.1M in just four weeks, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Last week’s champion “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” which is now in its second week, added $18.537 million from North America and $64.3 million in 56 international territories, for a global 2-week cume of $293.5 million.
United Artists Releasing’s MGM animated family-friendly comedy “The Addams Family” now in its third weekend came in at number 3, adding $11.705 million for a cume through Sunday of $72.801 million and a global total to date of $83.8M.
