LIVERPOOL (CelebrityAccess) – Sentric Music has entered a joint venture with Manchester-based music company Scruff Of The Neck, combining forces for future co-publishing opportunities and an administration agreement.
Scruff Of The Neck, known for its work as a record label, music publisher, promoter, and artist management firm, has been a major player in the alternative and indie rock scene. The company earned the Best Small Label title at the AIM Awards in 2019 and partnered with Believe for global masters distribution, a relationship now bolstered by Believe’s ownership of Sentric.
The Scruff Of The Neck roster features a variety of alternative and indie rock acts, including Bilk, Ist Ist, The Lilacs, The Slow Readers Club, Shelter Boy, and Shambolics. In 2021, it launched Scruff Of The Neck TV, a weekly Twitch-based music showcase that has garnered over 15 million views since February 2023. The company also achieved success with its hybrid stream of the Y Not? Festival in 2022, drawing 1.1 million viewers.
The new partnership combines Sentric’s expertise in administration, royalty infrastructure, technology, and global sync with Scruff Of The Neck’s talent for discovering and developing guitar music artists. So far, Shambolics has been signed to a co-publishing deal under the partnership, with administration agreements covering the catalogs of Glass Caves, Lucy Deakin, and Andy Gannon.
Sentric CEO Chris Meehan expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Mark and the team are total specialists when it comes to guitar music, and we’re looking forward to seeing what opportunities their knowledge paired with our administration expertise will bring.”
Scruff Of The Neck CEO and founder Mark Lippmann highlighted the alignment between the two companies. Lippmann remarked, “The cultures of our businesses are very much aligned… Sentric really believes in our vision and potential, and that’s why we’ve signed a long-term deal.”
He added that the partnership, which focuses on indie, alternative, punk, and rock genres, aims to position Scruff Of The Neck as “a ‘one-stop shop’ for the best guitar music in the UK.”
This collaboration continues the momentum for both companies, with Scruff Of The Neck expanding its influence in the alternative music scene and Sentric strengthening its role as a key player in artist rights management.
