Alex Diaz Named GM At MSG


NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Alex Diaz has been tapped as the new senior vice president and general manager at Madison Square Garden. Diaz will be responsible for overseeing all facility operations for Madison Square Garden, the Theater at Madison Square Garden and the MSG Training Center.

MSG is one of the busiest arenas in the U.S., hosting more than 400 events annually and is currently undergoing an extensive rehab. Mr. Diaz's portfolio will include building operations, engineering, food and beverage, security, event production, box office operations and customer relations. He will also have input in day-to-day operations as well as strategic planning for the arena during the construction process.

Prior to joining MSG, Mr. Diaz was the senior vice president and general manager of arena operations for Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment where he oversaw the development of the Barclays Center, the future home of the New Jersey Nets, and also managed The Nets’ facilities needs at the Prudential Center. Before that, he was the senior vice president and general manager of facilities for the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. In this role, he managed operations, engineering, contract services, risk management, event services, guest services, security, parking, food & beverage, housekeeping and theatrical labor services.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Diaz held a variety of other facilities management positions at venues including director of operations and event manager. Mr. Diaz earned a Bachelor’s degree in sports administration and a Master’s degree in sports management from the University of Florida. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
