LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Disney announced that pop/R&B singer Beyoncé has joined the cast of their upcoming live-action movie of the popular animated film "The Lion King."
Queen Bey will be cast in the role of Nala, a lioness who serves as the love interest for the story's main character Simba.
The cast also includes James Earl Jones, who will reprise his role as Simba's fatherr Mufasa and Donald Glover as Simba.
Disney promises that the Jon Favreau-directed film will put a new spin on the story of the pride of lions, and will include "pioneering filmmaking techniques."
The film follows the success earlier this year of the live action remake of another animated Disney classic "Beauty & The Beast" which notched up more than 1.2bn at the box office, was part of a series of live action remakes that included revivals of "Cinderella" and "The Jungle Book."
