DJ/Producer Marcus Intalex Dies

MANCHESTER, UK (CelebrityAccess) — Marcus Intalex, a drum & bass producer and DJ, who also performed under the pseudonym Trevino, died on May 28th in Manchester, UK.

“It's with heavy hearts and great sadness we have announce that Marcus passed away this morning. Thanks for the kind words so far and we appreciate the privacy and respect shown for his loved ones and friends at this sad time," said a statement from his label Soul:r.

Intalex, whose real name is Marcus Kaye, was an early innovator of the gritty urban sound that became drum n' bass, hosting a weekly themed radio Da Intalex on Kiss 102 FM in Manchester with fellow DJ Mark XTC from 1993 to the early 2000s.

He was also one of the first artists signed to the influential d n'b label Hospital Records and founded the Soul:R, Revolve: R, and Birdie recording labels.

Apart from his work in the drum & bass world, he also performed as a techno DJ under the sobriquet Trevino, a name borrowed from his favorite golfer Lee Trevino.

In addition to performance, Intalex was an active promoter, staging drum & bass events around Manchester, including the weekly "Guidance" series of club nights.

A cause of death was not disclosed.
