Family Of Man Killed After Concert At Montage Pavilion Sues County

SCRANTON PA (CelebrityAccess) — The family of a Dunmore man who was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking from a concert at Montage Mountain has filed a lawsuit against Lackawanna County and several other defendants.

The lawsuit stems from a 2013 incident where 33-year-old Michael Sanders was walking on Montage Mountain Road after being ejected from a Jason Aldean concert at the Pavilion at Montage Mountain for being intoxicated. He was struck by a vehicle driven by Ivy Giordano, who the suit alleges had also been drinking alcohol at the concert.

The lawsuit, filed by Mr. Sanders’ wife, Courtney Sanders, and several other relatives, allege that the sheriff’s deputies were negligent for failing to ensure Mr. Sanders’ safety when they ejected him while he was visibly intoxicated. The suit contends that their negligence was compounded when they allowed Ms. Giordano to drive, despite being visibly intoxicated, the Times-Tribune reported.

The suit is seeking damages from the county and from the three sheriff' deputies named in the suit. An attorney for the county declined to comment on the suit to the Times-Tribune. – Staff Writers
