NEWARK, OH (CelebrityAccess) — Pop-punk singer/songwriter Front Porch Step, has suspended all of his current touring plans, including a spot on the Vans Warped Tour amidst allegations of sexual misconduct with underaged girls.
Jake Mcelfresh, better known as Front Porch Step, has been accused of making inappropriate text messages and other forms of social media to at least half a dozen girls as young as 14, and in some instances, the exchange of sexually explicit pictures, the New York Times reported.
While no criminal charges have been filed as of yet, the public's response to the allegations has been visceral and a petition with more than 12,000 signatures quickly popped up on Change.org seeking to have Mcelfresh dropped from the Vans Warped Tour lineup. Mcelfresh subsequently announced that he was suspending all tour activity to address the allegations.
As well, Mcelfresh appears to have been dropped by his label Pure Noise Records and no longer appears on the artist roster on their website.
"As I posted 3 days ago, I am taking the appropriate time to assess these very serious allegations against me and I am not taking them lightly. Until I can do that in a complete manner with all the information I have at my disposal, I will not be continuing with any current touring activities for the time being," Mcelfresh wrote in a post on his Facebook page. – Staff Writers
