Odetta To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The National Folk Museum is producing its first annual banquet at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on March 20, which will honor singer Odetta with a Lifetime Achievement Award and celebrate her life, career, music and influence. The banquet will help to raise money and awareness for the construction of the museum.

Each year, the banquet will have a thematic event for the entire evening which will focus on and honor the lifetime achievement of an artist, group, producer or institution that has best exemplified the preservation of folk music in the Americas.

In 1999 Odetta was awarded the Presidential Medal of Arts.
