The 12th Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Awards scheduled for the Apollo Theatre in New York on October 4 has been postponed.
Bob Wade, the foundation's executive director, said that the Foundation shares the shock and sorrow of the nation and its friends around the world over the recent tragic events in New York and Washington, DC.
"We are looking at various options for rescheduling the event," continued Wade, "and we will make a public announcement as soon as a decision is reached, hopefully within the next few days."
This year's Pioneer Award honorees are:
Lifetime Achievement Award: Al Green
Individual Artist Honorees: Fontella Bass, Big Jay McNeely, Dee Dee Sharp
Group Artist Honoree: The Emotions, Sly & The Family Stone
Songwriter/Entrepreneur Honorees: Holland/Dozier/Holland, Allen Toussaint
Legacy Tribute: Louis Jordan
