The Black Crowes will perform three sold-out concerts at New York's Beacon Theatre in New York City this week September 20-22. A portion of the proceeds from these shows as well as 100% of all merchandising revenue will be donated to two organizations that will benefit victims of the recent terrorist attacks.
Those charities–the NYS WTC Relief Fund and the NYC Public/Private Initiative–are both state run, with 100 percent of the monies collected going to survivors and families of victims (see below). The band has requested that representatives from these charities be on hand at the shows.
The New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund: This fund has been established in conjunction with the United Way of New York City and the New York Community Trust, and the Twin Towers Fund by the City of New York. Send donations c/o P.O. BOX 5028, Albany, NY 12205.
NYCPPI (New York City Public/Private Initiative, Inc.): The City of New York is accepting contributions to aid the families of police, fire, EMS and other city employees involved in the rescue efforts through this fund. Send donations c/o City Of NY, 100 Church Street, 20th Floor, NY, NY 10007.
