ATLANTIC BEACH, FL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After a complaint from a local driver, a theater in Atlantic Beach, Florida, has removed the word “vagina” from it’s marquee, instead advertising it’s currently running feature as “The Hoohaa Monologues.”
“We got a complaint about this play The Vagina Monologues,” Bryce Pfanenstiel, of the Atlantic Theater, told Local6 News. “We decided we would just use child slang for it. That’s how we decided on Hoohaa Monologues.”
The theater made the change after a driver who saw it complain that she was upset after her young niece asked what the original title meant. Some parents have applauded the change, while others question its necessity.
The theater said they’re trying not to offend anyone, but the publicity for the well-known performance piece doesn’t hurt.
“We hope people understand we’re trying to do the right thing. But as far as doing it for attention, we’re a comedy club, we do all kinds of shenanigans,” Pfanenstiel said. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
