In one of the most innovative creative strategies of the new digital age, the Columbus, Ohio-based quintet, The Sun, will release their debut Warner Bros. Records full-length release, "Blame It On The Youth," on September 13 exclusively in a DVD Album format.
Bypassing the conventional audio-only CD, "Blame It On The Youth" will highlight fourteen new original songs by The Sun with accompanying videos for every selection, thereby re-defining the concept of a traditional album. Audio tracks embedded in the DVD will also allow fans to rip high resolution WAV files directly into their computers, CD burners, iPods and other popular MP3 players, creating a product uniquely geared to the way consumers are discovering and disseminating new music. The disc will be packaged in a standard CD jewel box and priced comparably with a regular CD and available in the music section in stores just like any other CD release.
At the same time, this revolutionary approach adds new value to offline purchases with content and quality not available on standard CDs or over the Internet yet at a comparable price. "Blame It On The Youth" will be also be available online for purchase on digital download via iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Real and all participating digital retail outlets.
Available in stores only in this pioneering DVD Album format, "Blame It On The Youth" will feature videos for each of the album's fourteen tracks, produced by the band and a variety of video directors. "Blame It On The Youth" will also be released simultaneously in a double gatefold vinyl collector's edition.
"We wanted to present our debut album in a way that would be interesting and unique," the band said collectively. "We had already made a few videos on our own with the help of friends and local filmmakers and decided to extend the process to include short films as a visual enhancement for each track on the album. Our idea was to make this record–considering both songs and visual images–available in modern mediums that address the way fans are finding their music now and in the future. Comprised of Chris Burney (vocals, guitar), Sam Brown (drums, backing vocals), Bryan Arendt (guitars), Brad Forsblom (bass, backing vocals) and Brad Caulkins (keyboards, guitars, backing vocals), The Sun first burst into pop consciousness with 2003's "Love And Death," their debut EP for Warner Bros. Records, followed by a second EP, "Did Your Mother Tell You," in 2004.
