Steve Weitzman, formerly of Tramps and currently at the Village Underground, plans to open a new New York club in September. But rather than in the mecca of Manhattan, where practically all clubs that attract national talent are located, Weitzman has found a place in Brooklyn.
Located at the Polish National Home in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, the 800-capacity Warsaw is just one subway stop outside of Manhattan. The site includes free parking (a rarity in any borough), a lounge for local acts without an admission charge, and a restaurant.
Weitzman and his collaborators, Mark Chroscielewski, who currently runs the Polish National Home, and Jon Weiss, who runs Cavestomp, a garage-rock series with Weitzman and Little Steven (E Street Band guitarist) at the Village Underground, plan for an eclectic mix of acts at Warsaw.
