NEW ORLEANS (CelebrityAccess) — Aretha Franklin has pulled out of a series of upcoming performances, including her headlining role at the 2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, citing doctors orders.
“Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months. She is extremely disappointed she cannot perform at this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as she had expected and hoped to,” said a statement from Franklin’s management.
Franklin was slated to perform on April 28th, during the opening weekend of this year’s Jazz Fest. In her place, organizers announced that rocker Rod Stewart had agreed to take her place on the bill.
Franklin also canceled a concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on March 25.
