LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Charlotte Rae, 92, who is best known for her role as Mrs. Garrett on “The Facts of Life” and “Diff’rent Strokes,” died Sunday at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, according to her publicist.
Rae, born Charlotte Rae Lubotsky, first appeared as housemother Edna Garrett on “Diff’rent STrokes” in 1978 before she got her own spinoff, “The Facts of Life,” the following year. She left the show in 1986, saying there was nothing left to pursue with her character. She announced last year she was diagnosed with bone cancer, seven years after saying she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Rae began her career on radio and the theatre in her teen years, according to Fox News.
