(CelebrityAccess) – Matt Medved has been named Spin Magazine’s new editor-in-chief.
Medved comes to the position from his previous post as Billboard‘s director of dance/electronic programming & cross-department content strategy.
During his tenure with Billboard, Medved who joined the company in 2015, oversaw all of the publication’s dance and electronic coverage and content programming, increasing Billboard Dance‘s audience more than eightfold. He consulted on cross-genre verticals, including Billboard Latin, Billboard Hip-Hop and Billboard Pride, launched the Billboard Dance 100 artist rankings, which according to Billboard, garnered more than 180,000 votes from 174 countries, and has helped grow Billboard Dance’s social media footprint to nearly 700,000 followers.
Commenting on the news, Deanna Brown, managing director of Valence Media, the parent company of both Billboard and Spin, said: “Matt has proven to be a great storyteller, journalist and industry liaison, we’re excited to have him at the helm of Spin.”
