BOSTON (CelebrityAccess) — Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby has settled a federal lawsuit with seven women who accused him of defamation after they went public with sexual assault allegations against him.

According to NBC News, the attorney for the women, Joseph Cammarata, said that the plaintiffs were “satisfied with the settlement,” in court papers filed in the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts.

The women sued Cosby in 2014 after he denied their sexual abuse claims and described them as and liars. In 2015, Cosby filed a counter-suit, alleging the women defamed his character and intentionally disrupted an upcoming television opportunity.

In a statement posted to his social media, a rep for Cosby denied that he had settled any cases and claimed that his insurance company had done so without his consent.

“Mr. Cosby did not settle any cases with anyone. He is not paying anything to anyone, and he is still pursuing his counterclaims. (Insurance company) AIG decided to settle these cases, without the knowledge, permission and/or consent of Mr. Cosby,” the statement said.

“Mr. Cosby vehemently denies the allegations brought against him in these defamation suits and he maintains his innocence,” his rep said in a subsequent post.
