WILMINGTON, NC (CelebrityAccess) — After the City of Wilmington announced plans to hire private management for the city-owned The Hugh Morton Amphitheater at Greenfield Lake Park, Live Nation has been reportedly eyeing the deal.
According to the Wilmington Port City Daily, Live Nation has submitted a series of questions in response to a request for proposals from the city over the management of the venue.
The city currently owns and operates the amphitheater, with outside companies handling booking, promotion and event security for shows at the venue. The RFP, which the city issues in late October, would cede the management of the venue to a private company as well, the Port City Daily reported.
According to the report, Live Nation Carolinas President Grant Lyman requested additional information on several key points, including the amphitheater’s cost to the city over the past two years and what the city’s role as owners would be following privatization.
Lyman also expressed interest in sponsorship deals and if the city is prepared to allow a private company to secure naming rights for the venue.
The Port City Daily also reported that other companies, including AEG Presents, have also expressed interest in the RFP.
At present, Live Nation handles production for the lion’s share of shows presented at the arena.
