LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — The 82nd Golden Globe Awards took place on January 5, 2025, with comedian Nikki Glaser hosting the star-studded gala. Celebrating excellence in film and television, awards were presented across 27 categories.
In the film categories, The Brutalist, a post-war period drama starring Adrien Brody and directed by Brady Corbet, took home three major awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama. Brody won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, and Corbet was honored with Best Director.
Emilia Pérez, a Spanish-language musical crime comedy, dominated the musical/comedy film categories. The film earned top honors for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, with Zoe Saldaña winning Best Supporting Actress, along with awards for Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.
On the television side, Netflix’s Shōgun emerged as a standout, claiming four awards. These included Best Television Series – Drama, as well as acting wins for Hiroyuki Sanada (Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama) and Anna Sawai (Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama).
Meanwhile, Max’s Hacks, a comedy about the world of stand-up comedy writing, won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Jean Smart was recognized for her performance with the award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
